Quality Communities PAC has lots of money

I've been doing some research on the Quality Communities PAC, the group that has been supporting local printers. These guys have raised a lot of money--and they appear to be pouring it all into our little race here in district 5. As of September 12 they had raised over $100,000. They appear to be collecting $2000 or so from developers. I haven't had time to see if our friendly neighborhood developer is one of them, but I'll bet he is. I'll spend some time reviewing the documentation at the Public Disclosure Commission. To date they have filed 47 reports.

As of September 12 Dave Somers had raised $67,000 or so, and Jeff Sax had raised over $150,000.

The moral of all this is that Sax has more money right now. So if you have some spare change to donate for politics, and you agree with me that our neighborhood would be better off with Dave Somers on the County Council than with Jeff Sax, now is the time to invest it.

Check out Dave Somers web site and you will see which side he is on.

The Quality Communities PAC gave a $10,000 "retainer" (I can think of another more descriptive word) to a mystery business by the trade name of "JC Printing", listing an address which is actually a private mailbox service. Turns out this trade name was registered just a few weeks before the "retainer" was paid, by Chad Minnick, a political consultant who is now on the Monroe City Council. Interestingly, JC Printing has done absolutely no work for the $10,000. However, Chad Minnick's real business, Minnick and Minnick, has done over $18,000 worth. Why would Minnick create this in-name-only business instead of using his actual business name? Because Barclays North, the creator of the PAC, has business before the Monroe City Council, is one good guess. He was hoping the retainer would never be known to the public because of the obvious conflict of interest in upcoming quasi-judicial proceeding. In 2004 Councilman Minnick received approx. $149,000 from the Wa. Assn. of Realtors.

I don't know anything about this Minnick. But if you were able to find this information out so easily, then why do you think he was trying to "hide" something. Any payment made by a PAC is reported online. Any business name is easily researched online. It doesn't appear to me like there is anything that is being hid from public view. Instead, it sounds to me like you have some kind of grudge against this guy. What is it?

You say "Any business name is easily researched online." Go ahead and see if you can find JC Printing online. And see if you can find a telephone listing for that business. While you're at it, see if you can find an actual business location other than a "UPS Store", a private mailbox service. Call the Monroe UPS Store (360-805-0764) and ask if they have a mailbox for JC Printing. See if the City of Monroe has a business license for JC Printing. That is easily researched online by going to www.ci.monroe.wa.us

I look forward to hearing from you.

To be honest, it really doesn't interest me that much. I was more fascinated by your distaste for the man more than anything else. So how do you know all this information if it's not easily accessible?

Now that I have pointed out the facts and even helped you verify them yourself, you back away and claim you weren't really interested anyway. Too funny!

You didn't answer my question. If it's so hidden, then how did you find out all this secret info? And you didn't answer my other question. What's your grudge? Did he rip you off or something? That's why I'm really curious about.

Your silence tells me everything I need to know. You obviously have a personal grudge against this man.

Lornaborna - Thanks for referring me to this site. Don't you just love google? Too bad there aren't any dates on this, as it would be good to know when this all happened. Anybody care to shed any light on this?

Wow, has anyone (press-wise) got a hold of this???
This is really funny. I think the second "annonymous" IS CHAD MINNICK! Must be fishing for whatever the
first annonymous has on him! Grudge? It's interesting that he sees this person as carrying a "grudge" when
in fact, this city councilman has been caught with his "shorts down" with a paper trail leading directly to his pseudo-business! This guy has "CROOK" written all over him! In this part of the state, this guy would be hung up by his "buster browns!" Does this clown think that all the citizens of Monroe are idiots? Incidently, this is a great forum to speak out.
There should be more comments from citizens of this town however. They should be highly suspicious of this character! Spokane has its share of naer-do-wells in politics, but traditionally, when improprieties are so blatant, they are shown the door.

my neighbor who works for Microsoft, says she heard from one of her co-workers that an investigation of some sort is going on in Monre. Don't know the details yet, but the word on the street is that it involves money laundering. I wonder if Minnick is involved. I didn't know the state patrol did that kind of investigation.

I see you are from Spokane. congrats on your successful recall of Jim West! Maybe you can help the Monroe people do one!

I was involved in Jim West's removal. But there was a huge outpouring of citizen outrage which was the
"catapult" for him. Whenever our elected officials put themselves above the law - it's time for them to be removed. With the information I've gathered, (not too difficult a task, I might add), it wouldn't take much to
create a ground-swell of support to give this guy the boot. Our group would be happy to lend support to your cause - just let us know! Best of luck!

This retoric on the QCP is Chad Minnick himself..he is the one acting as if he doesnt care who 'this guy is.'

This person not caring about who Minnick is is really Minnick himself.
QCP is a right wing pro-pave-it-all for the green cash group.

This discussion takes on new relevance now that Minnick and council sidekick Ken Berger are under investigation by the Public Disclosure Commission. Go to www.pdc.wa.gov, then click on "compliance" to see the allegations.

    Burnt toast indeed!

Now its really getting interesting: Theres a letter in the Monroe Monitor www.monroemonitor.com spilling the proverbial beans. "Councilman Admits Guilt in Campaign Finance Cover-up". He names Berger and Minnick. Yee-haw!

  • At 8:57 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said…

Great news for Monroe! Ken Berger resigned just days before recall petitions were to hit the streets. A judge recently ruled that the evidence on its face was sufficient to show that Berger committed malfeasance and violated his oath of office.

The Public Disclosure Commission last fall fined Berger a whopping $20,000 for campaign finance violations. Now the PDC is investigating Councilman Chad Minnick for his role in the same scam! I hope they examine bank records.

Chad Minnick has to be pretty dumb to think people won't know this is him:

"Your silence tells me everything I need to know. You obviously have a personal grudge against this man."

"To be honest, it really doesn't interest me that much. I was more fascinated by your distaste for the man more than anything else. So how do you know all this information if it's not easily accessible?"

    He's dumber than his dad!
